I have been a practising and qualified therapist for more than 25 years, with a varied clinical background in the NHS, the voluntary sector, therapeutic communities, an addictions service, a prison, GP surgeries and low-fee charities.
I qualified as a person-centred counsellor in 1999, and on graduating I joined the NHS where I worked in the field of personality disorders as a group and social therapist. I undertook further training in group dynamics and systemic family therapy, as well as psychodrama, before going on to work as a mental health practitioner in GP surgeries. My final NHS post was in research.
I have had an established private counselling and psychotherapy practice since 2013.
My previous career was in journalism.
